Officers responded to the 200 block of N. Raymond Avenue Saturday at 5:48 PM regarding a possible stabbing. The victim reported that Raymond Philhart arrived at the house looking for his adult son, who Philhart said was a drug addict.
Philhart allegedly pulled a knife and slashed at the victim, failing to make any cuts. He then punched the victim and fled on his bike, police said.
Officers located Philhart and made the arrest after identification was made. The knife he used in the attempted stabbing was recovered in the arrest. Philhart was charged with aggravated assault.
Later, an attempted residential burglary was interrupted in the 800 block of Cedar Avenue. The victim was in her bed when she heard noises coming from her living room and saw that the backyard motion sensor light had been triggered.
She entered her living room to find two men trying to enter through a window that had not been closed properly. She yelled at the burglars who fled eastbound on Southgate Avenue.
Cpl. John Ema and Officer Kyle Bass responded to the call and located a juvenile suspect who admitted to being in the backyard with two more guys during the attempted break-in, police said.
A bicycle and Razor scooter were found near the juvenile suspect’s car on the street the burglary took place. Another resident from the area identified the bike and scooter as his and confirmed they had been stolen from his backyard.
The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of burglary, trespassing, and larceny prior to being released to his mother.
The additional suspects working alongside the juvenile have not been found and any information on their whereabouts is welcomed. Send An Anonymous Tip.
