A female transient was detained earlier this week after using the garage door opener in an unlocked car to gain entry and attempt to burglarize a Wilshire Blvd home.
The suspect fled when confronted by the home owner but was located by responding units.
She was arrested Tuesday on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.
Later that night, Corporal David Becerra stopped a suspicious pedestrian at Highland and Union Ave. The detained subject immediately discarded a black bag upon being halted.
That bag contained a stolen computer and multiple GPS units.
Officer Andrew Coyle, who arrived later, used those GPS devices’ history to track down the respective, original owners’ addresses.
This information located four fresh auto-burglaries connected with the suspect.
Both burglaries highlight the importance of protecting your valuables at all times.
Among the tips, police say:
Despite the upcoming heat, windows should be rolled all the way up. That small crack may let some cool air in, but is also a bull’s-eye for potential burglars.
Make sure all doors to the house are locked any time you leave, regardless of how long you might be away.
Understand the threats that come at different hours of the day and night, but stay vigilant no matter the time.
Lastly, stay updated on crime in the area with the RAIDSonline website offered by the Fullerton Police Department and linked on the website.
Also, keep your car locked, even in your driveway, and remove valuables, including GPS devices.
