Residents can view crime on a map

BILL 1 copy 2The Fullerton Police Department announced a new service Monday that allows residents to view crime on a map, alerts residents about crime in their neighborhood, alerts the public in real-time as crimes occur and allows users to provide anonymous tips.

The mapping service includes information about the type of crime, general location, date and time. Residents can view the map or sign up for alerts by visiting www.raidsonline.com. They can also download an app to an iPhone.

“Our goal is to provide the public with as much information as possible,” said Police Chief Dan Hughes. “This type of information can help residents make decisions to protect themselves and their families and can also be used to help generate leads to solve crime.

The service is free for citizens – and the police department – and augments its iWatch program, which also offers to send crime alerts to resident’s emails or cell phones.
