A new ordinance – 3183 – was set in place that allows Fullerton residents to use “safe and sane” fireworks for the first time in 22 years in the city.
FPD has released these sensible guidelines taken directly from the new City Ordinance. By following these guidelines, the Police Department hopes that residents can enjoy fireworks in the safest manner possible:
- Only those fireworks designated “Safe and Sane” may be discharged within the city of Fullerton
- Fireworks may only be discharged on the fourth of July, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM
- No person under the age of 16 shall discharge any fireworks
- No person shall throw, toss, project, or position an ignited firework of any kind such a manner as to cause the firework or contents to come in contact with their own or any other person’s body, personal property or public property
- The discharge of fireworks shall not be permitted on private property without the property owner’s or occupant’s permission
- The discharge of fireworks shall not be permitted on public property, including, but not limited to parks, sidewalks, streets and alleys
- The discharge of fireworks shall not be permitted in any area within the “Very High” and “High” Fire Hazard Severity Zones as designated in the map issued by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (The map may also be viewed on the city’s website at https://www.cityoffullerton.com/ )
- The discharge of fireworks shall not be permitted within ten feet of any building or structure
- The discharge of fireworks shall not be permitted underneath any tree or combustible structure
