Briefs: Grandmother confronts man, protects 6-year-old

In an effort to protect her 6-year-old granddaughter, a grandmother confronted then pushed a man Sunday night who had forced himself into a bathroom, police said.

The incident occurred at a business in the 1800 block of Orangethorpe Avenue. The suspect fled, police said.

‘Huffing’ driver crash into a pole

A man who police say was “huffing” while driving Saturday night ran off the roadway and crashed into a tree and fence.

Police arrested Christoper Jocson, 28, on suspicion of driving under the influence following the collision at Parks and Bastanchury.

Man hit in head with led pipe

A homeless man was taken to the hospital with head injuries Sunday after being hit in the head with a led pipe, police said.

Officers found the man lying in bushes in the 1600 block of Commonwealth Avenue. The man told police he had been assaulted by another homeless man.

In a separate incident Saturday, an argument between two homeless women over a towel ended when one of the women armed herself with a knife and slashed the other woman twice in the back. The woman suffered very minor injuries. The suspect is described as female, Hispanic, about 40 years old, 5-feet-4 inches tall, 120 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.
